Among the missing

If you're coming here from Kickstarter then you've probably already Ed Pastor's card. Twice.
If you're NOT coming here from Kickstarter, by all means click to visit right now! My excuse for not blogging in a month (hurm) is clearly explained there.
What is not clearly explained would be these next two drawings…

Neither of these men are, to my knowledge, members of the Congressional Progressive Caucus.

WOOOOOOO!

"For those who believe, no explanation is necessary; for those who do not believe, no explanation will suffice." -Joseph Dunninger

No discussion of politics in our country would be complete without some mention of "the Man". You've heard of Him; no one elected Him, He answers to no one, He is often the scapegoat for all manner of ills , and just as often gets away scott free.

So Happy Birthday, Ric, to The Man who overcomes all obstacles on His path to glory.

Something New to know

Classic today is Adlai Stevenson II
(There may end up being an inordinate number of Chicago political figures in this by the time we're finished.)

Jennifer Granholm. I'm not ready to call her a Classic yet, and anyway, she's still influential. I guess. But she's a Canadian whole moved to california. Make of that what you will.

I have no business doing "extras" here when the new book is due in less than a month, but I found Hiram Stevens Maxim in my research andy could not pass the opportunity by. I can virtually guarantee this fellow has given you some fond memories , although you have probably never heard of him before.

One Weak

Valuable lessons learned. Funny how people born on the "same day" have different, often opposite effects on American life. Not as funny this week as it will seem next week though.

I wish I could do more with this project, and I'll be learning to work smarter to actually make those things happen.  As of this week, it still takes me about an hour to format the rough sketches into their templates and post the blog. I want to spend that time writing about the funny coincidences between a lot of these birthdays, link out to the works of the creators… and, of course, spend more time actually drawing.

It has been suggested to me that I get WAY goofier in my caricature style. I believe that will naturally happen as the year progresses. I am not pushing anything now except finishing as often as possible. To that end…

Nicier (Happy Birthday to these...

I am warned today to balance my imagination against reality, and not to feel like I have to act on every whim or share every thought.

Believe me, I do not share every thought.

However, this is kind of what I have been planning since August 2011...

Difference is, I thought I'd have inked all of them before posting 'em. I like to ink. I'm messier than I think I should be, but it's a very zen practice. First there's no mark, and then I'm stuck with it.

So I've been considering DIgital inking. I could use the practice on my Wacom. It's just. not. the same.

Ah well, we'll see if I can do it again tomorrow. I've got eight good ones pencilled up for ya. Some are even current politicians!
